Notes by Harry T. Adkins indicate that Charlie and Marcella lived in the Snow Creek area of Franklin Co., VA. This is confirmed in 1880 Census: The 1880 Federal Census for Snow Creek, Franklin Co., VA, District 109, page 198B records Charles F. (29) and Marceler (sic) (indexed as Maralee at ancestry.com) (29) Belcher with children William (7), Henry (6), and Lula (5).
The 1900 Federal Census Snow Creek, Franklin Co., VA, ( ED 35, Page 237A) records Charlie F. (b Feb. 1850) and Marcella (b Dec. 1849) Belcher married 27 years with children Sallie P. (Feb 1886), Hattie A. (b June 1888), Jane E. (b Nov. 1894), and Montague C. (b Oct. 1897) living in Snow Creek, Franklin Co., VA. Charlie and Marcella have had 8 children of which 7 are still living.
This family remains in Snow Creek through the 1920 Federal Census but does not appear in the 1930 Census. Snow Creek is in the south eastern part of the county near the convergence of Henry, Pittsylvania, and Franklin Counties.
As told by Bea Akers in a March 2004 interview: "The house burned in 1925 and Charlie and Marcella came to live with Dillard and Sallie Akers. The Parcel family bought the Belcher Home Place after Tom died." [Tom is Charlie's brother.]
