In 1930 the children Ola and Burnley are living with Eldridge and new wife Mary at Sandy River, Callands, Pittsylvania Co., VA : District 4, page 53A, dated April 14, 1930 records Eldridge (51) and Mary (50) Terry with children Ola Terry (26) and Burnlmay G. Terry (18) living along the Sandy River - Axton Road. Eldridge was first married at age 23 while Mary at age 46.

The 1940 Federal Census for Callands, Pittsylvania Co., VA, District 72-8, page 93B, dated April 24, 1940 records Eldridge P. (61 - VA) and Mary D. (60 - VA) Terry with daughter Ola Francis Terry (36 - VA). Eldridge has completed 7 years of schooling while Mary has completed 2 years of high school and Ola has completed 3 years of schooling. Eldridge is a farmer.

Eldridge P. Terry Funeral Tomorrow
Martinsville - Funeral rites for Eldridge Preston Terry, 85, of Axton Rt2 in the Sandy River Community, will be conducted from Mount Vernon Baptist Church tomorrow at 2 p.m. with interment in the Atkins (sic) Family Cemetery.
Mr. Terry died in Martinsville General Hospital early yesterday afternoon after a serious illness of two weeks.
A native of Henry County, he had made his home in the Sandy River community for the past 57 years. He was a farmer and blacksmith until his retirement 15 years ago.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Devin Terry of the home; three daughters, Miss Ola Terry, Axton; Mrs. John T. Jones, Chesapeake; Mrs. W. Robert Jones, Irisburg; three sons, Garnett and Burnley Terry of Norfolk; Clyde L. Terry of Danville; four sisters, Mrs. Julia Bernard, Boonesville; Mrs. Rose Gardner, Roanoke; Mrs. Grace Montgomery, Martinsville; Mrs. Kate Lemon, Grottoes; three brothers, W. L. and John Terry, both of Starkey; and Emmett Terry of Norfolk, ten grand children, 19 great grand children.
The body will rest at McKee Funeral Home until noon tomorrow.

Eldridge married Abigail (Abbie) Francis Adkins, daughter of Green Berry (Nicholas) Adkins and Martha Elnor Lawrence, on 3 Dec 1902 in Pittsylvania Co., VA. (Abigail (Abbie) Francis Adkins was born on 11 Jan 1883 in Sandy River (Callands), Pittsylvania Co., VA, died on 26 Mar 1920 in Sandy River (Callands), Pittsylvania Co., VA. and was buried on 28 Mar 1920 in Family Cemetery At Green Berry's Farm.) The cause of her death was Influenza, with an abortion.
