The 1900 Federal Census , Virginia, Nansemond Co., Holy Neck District 28, records Mathew Daughtey (July 1856) with his wife of 18 years, Mary E. (Sept 1867) and children Osie F. (May 1887), William J. (Jan 1890), Charlie E. (July 1893), Alvin L. (Jan 1895). Next door is his brother Abram T. (July 1853) and his wife of 21 years Roxana (Apr 1854) and thier children Walter R. (April 1880), Mamie G. (Mar 1887), Essie L. (July 1892), and Laura (May 1894). Eli Daughtrey (Mar 1843) is living next door with his children Emily C. (Jan 1879), Elmer (Apr 1887), and Ola R. (Nov 1892). Next door to Eli is his son Joshua T. (Oct 1869) and wife Allie B. (Aug 1875) and child Julian T. (Mar 1898).

The 1910 Federal Census, Virginia, Chesterfield Co., Dale, District 4 page 56B records Joshua T. (40) and Allie B. (34) Daughtrey and their children Julian T. (12), Lulu I. (9), and Allie B. (5). The family is next door to his brother Theosilus L. (42) [Theophilus Losey] and Allie D. (35) Daughtrey with children Ethel C. (9), Lyman S. (7), Garlan R. (3), and LeClair A. (1).

The 1920 Federal Census, Virginia, Nansemond Co., Holy Neck, District 18, page 184B records Joshua T. (50) and Alberta (44) Daughtrey with children Iris (19), Allie B. (15), and Norman (6) living on the Carrsville Road. Nearby are his father, Eli (81), and siblings Emily (40) and Elmer (32-High School Teacher).

The 1930 Federal Census, Virginia, Nansemond Co., Holy Neck, District 7, page 112A records Joshua T. (59) and Allie B. (49) Daughtrey and son Norman (16).

Joshua Taylor Daughtrey's Certificate of Death (Virginia 1826-19546) lists Joshua T. Daughtrey died Aug. 6, 1940 in Nansemond Co., VA.

Ola Daughtrey writes to Ethel Daughtrey Ellis ca 1970 that her brother "Joshua Taylor Daughtrey died Aug. 6, 1940."

Obituary for JOSHUA T. DAUGHTREY
Joshua T. Daughtrey, aged 70, well known resident of Nansemond County, the son of the late Ely and Julia Ann Daughtrey, died suddenly Tuesday night at the home here of his sister, Mrs. W.J. Daughtrey. He was a member of the Franklin Congregational Christian Church.

Survivors are: two daughters, Mrs. J. L. Byrd of Suffolk, and Mrs. H.L. Bowler of Criglersville, Va.; two sons Julian T. Daughtrey of Portsmouth, and Norman L. Daughtrey of Franklin; two sisters, Miss Emily Daughtrey and Mrs. W.J. Daughtrey of Franklin and two brothers Elmer L. Daughtrey of Franklin and Joseph R. Daughtrey of Norfolk.

Services were conducted Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the residence of Mrs. J. L. Byrd in Suffolk by the Rev. Robert Lee House of Richmond, assisted by the Rev. Herbert G. Councill of Portsmouth and Dr. Elwood W. Jones of Franklin, his pastor.

Interment was in the family burying ground near Franklin, pallbearers being Dr. J.C. Rawls, Howard E. Byrd, Edward Daughtrey, J.O.H. Daughtrey, Herbert Rawls, L.T. Britt, Hurley Daughtrey, Geo. H. Stroud and W.A. Daughtrey.
