A contact with Nita Rawls Watterson in 2004 resulted in a visit to several Daughtrey and Rawls homes in the Holland area. Nita related many family facts and with her guidance we were able to visit the graves of Eli and Julia Anna Daughtrey as well as Joshua and Priscilla. A return visit in July 2007 allowed this researcher to update the status of the Daughtrey grave sites: Eli, Julia Anna, and their son, Elmer, are still across from Eli's home place at 1900 Jenkins Mill Road. Eli's home has been renovated and added to and is for sale. The grave yard is still overgrown with tress, shrubs, and vines but remains intact in the middle of a field several hundred yards off the road across from his home. Joshua, Priscilla, Theophilus, Joseph John, and Lillian are buried in a field near the long gone home of Joshua and Priscilla several hundred yards behind the Norfleet residence at 35004 Holy Neck Road (Also called Lees Mill Road or Rte 616). Careful examination revealed the broken headstone of Lillian Daughtrey with the recorded birth and death dates. Another two stones were those of Joseph J. Daughtrey. One was the headstone with birth and death dates and the other an honored remembrance and recognition of his service to his country during Mr. Lincoln's War. I attempted to clear off several other indentations but the areas appeared and felt like large flat pieces of drift wood rather than stone in the sandy soil ... perhaps an indication of coffins that were coming to the surface.

Joshua Daughtry is listed on the Muster Roll of Captain John Blunt's Company of Virginia Militia, commanded by Lieutenant Francis M. Boykin, in the Service of the State of Virginia from 23d June to 10th July, 1813 and from 28th August to 13th September, in the year 1814. His time of service is listed as 17 days.

The 1830 Federal Census for Isle of Wight Co., Va. records Joshua Daughtrey (30-40) with family: 2 males (<5) [Joseph John & Theophilus], 1 female (5-10) [Elinor], 1 female (10-15) [?}, and 1 female (20-30) [Priscilla]. Nearby is his father, Richard Daughtrey.
